Gillis founded Chancellor in 1995 with Simon Cooper.
Fostering excellent corporate governance and compliance is of particular interest to Gillis. He has over 50 years of experience working in corporate leadership and general management for both private corporations and not-for-profit organisations, and over 30 years’ experience in the finance and investment industry.
Gillis has previously held Director roles at Northcott Society, Peko Wallsend Operations, Robe River, Newcastle Wallsend Coal Co and Cockatoo Coal and was Executive Chairman at Simsmetal Ltd.
He was the NSW Division Director at the Australian Institute of Company Directors as well the Deputy Chairman of Catalyst Investment Managers Pty Ltd and President of the New South Wales Business Chamber and the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife.
He has participated in the Stanford Executive Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1980 and is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Simon has over 50 years’ experience in the securities industry, including investment management and share broking.
Simon qualifications include a Batchelor of Arts (UNSW) and he is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA). He has over 50 years’ experience in the securities industry, including investment management and share broking.
Simon was a founding principal of Chancellor in 1995 and was managing director for 15 years.
Prior to Chancellor, Simon held investment and portfolio management roles with merchant banks and several stockbrokers, and held the role of Investment Manager with the Mercantile Mutual Group (now ING Australia) and the NZI Insurance Group.
In 2015, Simon retired from Chancellor as a senior client adviser. He continues his connection with the company as a non-executive director.
Suvan was appointed Chief Executive Officer in February 2018.
Suvan is passionate about leadership and culture, and brings to Chancellor a deep knowledge of investment advice and portfolio management along with the expertise to keep enhancing Chancellor’s services in a rapidly changing environment.
Suvan has over 30 years’ experience in Australia and the UK. As co-founder of ipac securities and ipac asset management, he played a central role in creating one of Australia’s pre-eminent wealth management businesses. He was a director of several of ipac’s joint ventures with Australian financial institutions. Suvan was seconded to the UK to assist AXA with its wealth management strategy and was subsequently appointed managing director of AXA’s private client wealth management business in the UK.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (Economics) Honours from University of London and a Bachelor of Laws from University of Sydney. He gained his admission as a solicitor in New South Wales in 1985, is a Certified Financial Planner, a Fellow of Finsia and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Suvan is an independent non-executive director of Monash Absolute Investment Company that listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in April 2016, and he chairs its audit and compliance committee.
Hamish’s career in financial services commenced more than two decades ago, as a stock broker with two leading national stock broking firms. During that time, he gained extensive experience in advising private clients, family groups, and Not for Profit organisations.
In 2007, he joined Chancellor, and is an adviser and director of the firm.
Hamish specialises in advising private clients and wholesale organisations on portfolio construction and ongoing wealth management. He is also well versed on issues relating to superannuation, taxation, and estate planning.
Daniel Rolley has more than 13 years’ experience in investment markets, the majority as a Fundamental Equities Analyst and Portfolio Manager. Prior to joining Chancellor Daniel held roles with a range of financial institutions including Citigroup, Thomson Reuters and Eight Investment Partners.
Daniel holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Sydney in Commerce (Finance) and Engineering (Software) (First Class Honors) and is a CFA charter holder.
As Head of Research Daniels’ responsibilities including chairing the Investment Committee, managing Asset Allocation and Model Portfolios and individual stock analysis.
Daniel has a comprehensive range of specialist skills including Portfolio and Risk Management, Equities and Economic Research, Company Valuation and Modelling, and Investment Systems.
Erik joined the business in 2018 to take on the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In this role he takes on responsibility for the infrastructure, operations and finance teams within Chancellor.
Erik is passionate about building value for clients and Chancellor through ensuring that the business is supported by excellent governance, risk management, compliance and operational processes and systems.
Erik has more than 20 years experience as a senior financial services executive in consulting firms, private wealth managers, asset management and institutional banks, across Australia, Europe and the U.S. Companies that he has worked with include Morgan Stanley, Dixon Advisory, KPMG and PwC.
Erik has a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Commerce from the Australian National University. He has been a member of the Chartered Accountants (Australia and New Zealand) since 1998. He has a Diploma in Financial Planning.
Matthew has extensive experience in financial markets. He has been providing investment advice for clients for more than a decade.
Matthew began his financial services career as an equities and derivatives broker with Kinetic Securities before moving to Capital 19. He then joined SCM Equities as Head of International Equities and Foreign Exchange.
Matthew joined Chancellor in 2014. He specialises in fixed interest, domestic and international equities, and advises a wide spectrum of successful private clients.
Tony has been a financial adviser since 1995, specialising in Australian and international equities.
He worked at Credit Suisse for over 10 years, HSBC and SCM before joining Chancellor. Tony holds a Bachelor of Economics.
Tony advises families on wealth management and contributes value to his clients in the areas of asset allocation, investment and asset protection.
Charlie graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (International Business) from the University of Sydney, where he was a resident at St Paul’s College.
He began his career in fixed income, acting as an adviser to some of Australia’s largest fixed income institutions. He specialised in wholesale term deposits, bonds and NCDs.
Charlie joined Chancellor in 2014 and advises individuals, companies, family trusts and charitable foundations.
He specialises in Australian and International equity markets, aided by a strong proficiency in both technical and fundamental analysis.
